TEXT EDITORS/WORD PROCESSORS

WRD.06 40 Printer drivers for 1st Word.
WRD.07 ST Writer Elite v4.8. This program will run in GEM or non-GEM mode.
In GEM mode you now have full use of the mouse. You still see the
formatting control codes as it is not yet WYSIWYG. Apart from that it is
easily as good as 1st Word on WRD.17. Now STE and TT compatible and capable
of running on machines with 68030 accelerator boards. Foreign versions are
available on WRD.11.
WRD.11 ST Writer French version. ST Writer Elite v2.52 German version. ST
Writer Elite v3.0 Spanish version. Another printer drivers disk. Contains
Degas printer drivers for 25 different printers. PRT Install - Install your
printer's Degas printer driver in place of the built in Atari hardcopy
routine. Press ALT+HELP to activate. PRT Make - Create your own Degas
printer driver. LQ800 - A screen dump program for an Epson LQ800. Toshiba -
1st Word printer drivers for the Toshiba T- P321SL/F (24 pin) printer. Also
1st Word printer drivers for Epson FX- 1000, Seikosha SP-1000 I, Star
LC24-100. Also an accessory version of the NEC P6 hardcopy routine.
WRD.12 TVX screen editor plus C source files. Emacs Editor (V2 & V3)- text
editors, CS-Editor- text editor. Fully documented.
WRD.13 STWriter (V1.07) - Improved version now supports various text
styles, double column mode and can drive laser printers. Proff - Text editor
will full documentation.
WRD.14 Text Editors. Context v1 &v2, Pedit v1, Proedit v1. A must for C and
68000 programmers alike. Sedit v3.3 and Gsedit v4. Two excellent text
editors with a 26 page manual on disk. They are both essentially the same
program but one is Gem based and the other is not. The Gem based version
is quite good when used as a word processor and is much faster at scrolling
through a document than First Word.
WRD.17 First Word by GST. This program was the first GEM based word
processor for the ST and was given free with all STs sold in the first few
years of the ST. This is an excellent program giving true WYSIWYG (What You
See Is What You Get). First Word is so easy to learn that it is a must for
all new ST users. 1st-Drvr - for multiple copies of 1st Word Doc files. In
both PRG & ACC formats. 1st-Snd - a word search program. A4 Sizer - an
accessory for printers which do not allow the use of A4 continuous
stationery. Double - a program to reformat a listing from one to two
columns, for printing. Index plus - a disk cataloguing program.
Unfortunately it is mono only - and in German! Large print - this prints
large letters sideways. Ideal for posters etc. Morse Gen - reads in text
files and reproduces them in morse code. Speed can be varied from 3 to 30
WPM. NX1000 - a printer driver for the NX1000. Prntdoc - prints 1st Word
Doc files. Stevie - a text editor. Typer - turns your printer into a
typewriter with various print styles.
WRD.21 80,000 Word Dictionary - Compiled by Nadeem Walayat. Surely the
largest available on the ST. In ASCII format so you can incorporate it into
the dictionary files that come with most word processors. Be warned, the
ASCII listing is over 700k, so you'll need at least 1 Meg to use the
dictionary and probably more if your spelling checker can be loaded with
your word processor (as in First Word Plus). A GFA Basic source listing is
included which lets you view the dictionary on screen.
WRD.22 Spell ST v3.2 - Massive spell checker with a 62,000 word
dictionary. Needs 400K free RAM minimum, plus hard disk or large RAM disk
for practical use. No facilities for correction of text. Includes MakeDict
to maintain and update dictionary (how many more words can there be?). Needs
1 Meg.
WRD.26 WDSpell by Jeremy Hughes. Includes a spell checker, word counter
and dictionary editor. Although the dictionary is small (6000 words) it can
be easily added to and is simple to use. It will check 1st Word or ASCII
files. Very well documented. Also on disk is another less sophisticated
spell checker, a program to convert WP files to ASCII and a text editor
similar to micro emacs. Folded - a folding editor which can also be used as
an outliner. ST_Page - a fast and friendly text editor. Word tryker - an
excellent program originating from Denmark which prints out a 1st Word/1st
Word Plus document in various fonts. The fonts must have been created using
Tegnedit font editor which is included on the disk. These fonts are suitable
for most 9-pin printers. You can even create your own fonts using Tegnedit.
Although Wordtryker will run in medium or high res, Tegnedit can only be
used in high res (but will run with the mono emulator). Letters - prints out
a line of text in large characters.
WRD.27 Fonts - A font loader accessory and 27 replacement fonts for the
Desktop. Twin Print - Prints out an ASCII document as two column text.
Magni Writer - A version of ST Writer which uses large size characters and
is particularly useful for anyone with eyesight problems. Runs in any
resolution. Fully compatible with ST Writer. This version does not use
GEM. 1st_Prnt - A free standing print program for 1st Word documents.
Outputs to 9-pin Panasonic, 24-pin Epson or to disk. No graphics. 1stWSave -
An accessory which automatically saves 1st Word Plus documents at intervals
(by default 2 minutes). Documentation in Dutch but use is obvious. Does not
work with 1st Word, only 1st Word Plus. ASCIIfy - An ACC which converts 1st
Word documents to ASCII (without carriage returns so they can be imported to
DTP etc). Has option to run in the background while you work. Canon_BJ - 1st
Word printer driver for the Canon BJ10E bubblejet printer. Col_Prt - Degas
colour printer drivers for the Tandy CGP-220 inkjet, Epson JX-80 &
compatibles, NEC P2, Canon PJ1080A and Okimate 20. Morecopy - Accessory to
produce multiple copies of documents being printed by 1st Word (and most
other word processors/print programs). Includes C source. Protext.Fnt -
Allows you to change screen font in Protext word processor. Standard format
screen font is used, sample included. RW_Print - Program source code
printer. Picks out reserved words in bold/italic or whatever. Dictionaries
included for ST Basic, GFA Basic, Pascal, C and Modula-2. Can be configured
for most printers. Tab_Kill - Converts tabs to spaces and supports wildcards
for processing multiple files. Includes C source. Text_Loc - Searches all
files (exclusions can be specified) for a supplied text string. Similar to
Un*x grep but GEMmed, with Power Basic source. TXTDump2 - An accessory which
prints ASCII files neatly formatted.
WRD.30 ORIGAMI - A GEM based text editor. This is a folding or outline
editor. You can 'collapse' text so that only headings are visible, then open
up for editing. The 'folds' can even be separate files. Intended for
programmers, Origami understands several languages, but has no word wrap so
is not for general word processing. A mega program with documentation to
match along with comprehensive reconfiguration and macro features. ST-EDT -
A text editor for programmers. It is basically microemacs tailored to look
like EDT (as used on DEC mainframe systems). Includes documentation. ELVIS
1.4 - An almost perfect clone of the standard UN*X text editor 'vi'.
Includes comprehensive documentation. Idiosyncratic interface but worth
learning if you work with 'real' computers (or hope toto PAMPHLET LITE v0.9
- Prints text in landscape mode, two columns and double sided, ready for
folding into an A5 booklet. Unfortunately it only works with the HP Deskjet
(for other printers try MANUAL on UTL.186).
WRD.3024 DICTION - A huge dictionary to update your spell checker. There are
70,765 words from aardvark to zygotic. They are held in alphabetic order as
one ASCII file for each letter of the alphabet.
WRD.3123 2-COLUMNS v4 - A two column printer (magazine style) for text
files which will also print double sided. Includes drivers for Epson
compatibles, Panasonics and DeskJet, plus info for rolling your own. ABBREV
- A crippled demo of an ACC which expands codes as you type them e.g. you
type 'jan' and it puts 'January' in your document. Comes with an editor for
setting up the dictionary. The demo is limited to nine abbreviations. ALICE
v1.42 - A GEM based text editor which allows up to four files in different
windows. This latest version is very comprehensive. Almost a word processor.
BOOKER - Prints text files four pages to a sheet of A4, for folding into an
A5 pamphlet. HP LaserJet (or compatible) only. HIERO2 - Prints your name in
genuine Egyptian hieroglyphics (I kid you not) on Epsons and compatibles.
PAGE+ - A GEM based program which prints out source files with line numbers,
comments in bold etc. An enhanced version of HiSoft's 'Page'. Includes
assembler source. SETFWP - An Auto folder program which installs the correct
First Word Plus INF file for the current resolution. SPELLONE - A GEM based
spell checker which runs as program or accessory. WC - Counts characters,
words and lines in a text file. Includes C source but runs from a CLI. WE
EDITOR - A comprehensive text editor. The most unusual feature is that all
control key sequences can be reconfigured by the user. Heiro 2 and WE Editor
are colour only, the others run in colour or mono.
WRD.3124M DBWRITER v1.4 - A major new word processor with all the standard
features plus a spell checker, word count, page preview, two column printing
and mail merge. Not GEM based but uses a mouse driven graphic interface.
Realistically needs 1 Meg. The best word processor for mono users. KX_P1124
- Set up program for the Panasonic KX-P1124. Virtually all features are
supported.
WRD.3244 BIG_BANNER - Prints your text banner style. There are 5 sizes and
5 fonts to choose from. GABIGRAF - Of German origin. Seems to be a
text/graphics layout designer for the Gabriele 9009 with an IFD1 interface.
Has anybody seen one? CFG - Configuration files for using Rédacteur 3 with
60 printers including Brother, Epson, Citizen, HP Deskjet & Laserjet, Atari,
Panasonic, Oki, MT, Amstrad and Star. 1ST WORD - HEX configuration files for
Star, HP Deskjet, Citizen and Panasonic 1080. NEC P2200 - Printer control &
configuration accessory. STAR - Comprehensive info and a full set of 1st
WORD (and PLUS) drivers for NL10 and LC10, including colour versions.
WRD.3726 GEM MICRO EMACS V3.11C - At last a GEM based, Multi-TOS compatible
version of the popular programmers' editor! Micro Emacs has been around
longer than Atari but this is a worthy upgrade. It retains all the keyboard
commands and its own command language but has added mouse support and
windows for ease of use. Alternative fonts may be used if you have GDOS
installed. This latest version allows the editing of multiple documents in
different windows along with the cutting and pasting between these windows.
Many standard word processing features have been incorporated into what was
once no more than a programmer's tool.
WRD.3727 7 UP - An excellent word processor from Germany. It is GEM based
and easy to use with all the usual functions and a few extras including the
use of different GDOS fonts in multiple sizes. If GOS is not loaded, you can
still change the size of the system font. More powerful than First Word but
lacking the graphics and spell checker facilities found in commercial
offerings. Translated by Evelyn Mills and Steve Delaney. EDITH v1.0 - A GEM
based word processor which runs as a PRG or ACC. It uses GDOS fonts,
communicates with Gemini, allows selection of multiple blocks of text, uses
macros and has a built in printer spooler. A very capable alternative to
First Word. MG v2A - A Micro Emacs clone. This is a command line driven text
editor which is 'broadly compatible' with Micro Emacs in its command
structure. If you want something user friendly use one of the other two
editors on this disk. Unix and PC users will be at home with this one.
WRD.3890 1ST DOT - A collection of 1st Word (not Wordplus) printer drivers
for the Atari SMM804, Brother 10P, Canon Bj-10e, Citizen 120D, Epson (JX80,
LX80, LQ800, RX80), Hp Deskjet (+ and 500), MP165, NEC P2200, OKI (92, 182,
192) Panasonic (KX-P1080, 1091, 1092), Roland PR1215, Seikosha GP-100A, Star
(LC10, LC10C, NX10, SG10), Tandy TRS-80. 1WP2FAX v1.5 - Converts a 1st
Wordplus document into an IMG file at the correct resolution for
transmitting using STFax, QFax, Junior/TeleOffice and STraight FAX. BIG TEXT
V1.0 - Lets you type text and alter it in size and angle. You can then load
up a Degas picture to use as a backdrop and save the whole thing out in
Degas format. BJ10E - A 1st Wordplus printer driver for the Canon BJ10e.
DTP_A5 by James Cox - A very basic Desktop Publishing program. It includes
its own text editor and both bitmapped and vector graphic drawing programs.
Whilst it is not nearly as capable as Easy Text or Timeworks, it is possible
to create one off single page flyers. DUALCOL V2.20 - Takes an ASCII file
and reformats it into two columns. You specify how many characters per line
and lines per page are suitable for your printer and how large the gap
between the columns should be. Suitable for HP Deskjet (not Laserjet) and
Epson and compatibles. EDWIN - A tiny text editor which only uses up 10k of
memory. It is restricted to handling files of up to 2k in size. Ideal for
writing readmes. Runs as an ACC or PRG. HP2WWDRV - A Wordwriter ST printer
driver for an OKI 400 laser printer. It should also allow Word Writer to
drive an HP Laserjet. HPDJ5005 - A 1st Wordplus printer driver for the HP
Deskjet 500 (IWB5). KXP CONF by Martin Maisey - A configuration utility for
the Panasonic KX-P1123. It gives access to many of the features ignored by
most printer drivers. Since it's an ACC, it can be used within most word
processors. GFA source included. LQ SET - Allows you to set pitch (10cpi,
12cpi, 15cpi or 17cpi) print style, margins, lines per page and so on, with
the Epson LQ series of printers. Pascal source included. SCRIBE V1.2 by Eric
Chapman - A fully fledged GEM based word processor which allows up to 10
documents in memory and 10 clipboards. All commands available on the menus
have keyboard equivalents and the program includes on-line help which can be
called up at any time. It's so full featured, yet easy to use, that you
don't even need to read the 19 page manual which is included on disk. SPELL
V2.8 - A GEM based spell checker which works with both ASCII and 1st Word
files. The dictionary is supplied empty but uses a standard ASCII text file
as its data file. We recommend that you use the dictionary file on WRD.21.
WRD.3891 1ST CONV - Converts ASCII files into 1st Word format so that they
can be reformatted easily. CODE_XB - Two versions of a general purpose
printer control code sender which have been modified by Tony Kaye to take
advantage of the Star XB24-10's features. The original CODER.ACC by Jon
Ellis is also included on disk. EVEREST v3.5E - A nice easy to use Shareware
text editor which is fully GEM based. It allows up to 10 windows to be open
at once and has most of the features of a dedicated word processor. GDOS
fonts are supported if GDOS or SpeedoGDOS is installed and even the system
font can be scaled to suit. Almost everything can be customised to suit and
settings can be saved. Everest supports keyboard macros, Multi-TOS and the
GEM Clipboard. Floppyshop have obtained special permission from the author
to distribute this disk. HELPFUL HORACE by Chris Skellern - An easy to use
two column printing program. It takes a standard ASCII file and lets you
specify the settings you want. It can then be output as a one or two column
document. This will save lots of paper when printing lengthy readmes,
assuming your printer supports condensed printing. STW4SPN - The Spanish v4
of ST Writer Elite on WRD.07. Ideal if you have a lot of correspondence to
do in Spanish. SWIFT 24 - First Word/Wordplus printer drivers for the
Citizen Swift 24. WP PACK - This program is designed as an aid for 1st
Wordplus users. Amongst its features are the ability to execute Wordplus
from a shell, convert between ASCII and Wordplus formats, convert files from
v3.15 of Wordplus to v2.1, convert Wordplus to Signum and TEX formats,
convert Timeworks pages to ASCII. You can also print Wordplus files from
within WP Pack.
WRD.4501 MARCEL V2.34+ - An excellent Shareware word processor from The
States. Marcel has a number of features which rank it over and above many of
its competitors. It loads text in ASCII, 1st Word, Wordplus, Word Perfect
4.1, RFT formats and saves in ASCII, RFT and Wordplus. Marcel includes a
built-in spell checker (with 45,000 words!), supports numerous layout styles
and different fonts. Keyboard shortcuts are available for almost every
function and commonly used words and phrases may be programmed onto the
function keys. There are lots of extras like the ability to set the
time/date, display a corner clock, insert the date into your documents and
both alphabetical and numerical sorting of lists. A very highly specified
word processor. Well documented on disk, with the full manual available from
the author. Needs 1 Meg.
WRD.5113 1STW2PS - Converts 1st Wordplus v1.83 (and perhaps later versions)
files into Postscript format. A number of user definable parameters allow
for fine tuning of the output. The output can be saved to disk or sent
directly to the Postscript printer, making multiple copies of your document
if required. 1ST CAT - Allows you to alter the keyboard shortcuts within 1st
Wordplus to those of your preference. MIKOSH TOOLS - Strips off extra spaces
at the end of lines in ASCII files converted from 1st Wordplus and allows
you to convert between the CR and CR+LF line end of line markers used
typically by DOS and Unix ASCII files. ASCII V7.0 - Allows you to print out
an ASCII file in one or two column mode using the different fonts built into
your printer. Currently there's drivers for the Citizen Swift 24 and NEC P6
printers. Unfortunately both program and docs are in German, although we've
done a RUF translation. IBMASCII - Converts ASCII files from a PC to 1st
Word or Signum/Script formats on the ST. It also converts IBM ASCII to Atari
ASCII. LETTERHEAD V1.1 - Lets you use any IMG file of less than 8K as a
letterhead. It loads in the picture and scales it to approximately one
quarter of screen resolution, then allows you to set various parameters such
as margin, number of pages, page length, print quality etc. Prints to Epson
compatible printers. MAKE A BOOK V2.30 - Takes an ASCII file and allows you
to assign Postscript fonts to it, then arranges it into A5 booklet form for
printing out. It was designed to be used with UltraScript but will probably
work with CompoScript too. Point size and character spacing can also be set.
Rather than printing using UltraScript, you can save the file to disk in
Postscript format for sending to a bureau (it could probably also be used
with GhostScript on LAN.73 & LAN.76). PS2TXT - Converts Postscript files to
ASCII by stripping out all the Postscript instructions. TRANSLATOR -
Converts ASCII files to Postscript format. You are given control over the
margin settings, font used and point size.
WRD.5114 WP2FAX v1.5 - Converts 1st Wordplus files into IMG files at the
correct resolution for sending using a fax modem with the appropriate
software (ST-Fax, QFax, Junior/TeleOffice or STraight Fax). FAXFONT - A
great improvement on the built in system font. Intended to replace the
system font in letters converted using WP2FAX. GDOS2FAX - Similar to
Faxfont, except that it allows you to replace the system font with any GDOS
font. WP2RTF - Converts 1st Wordplus files into RTF (rich text format) which
is used by Microsoft Write, Atari Works and several other professional
titles on the ST, Mac and PC. BUSINESS - A collection of 100 standard
business letters in ASCII format. Simply load the relevant letter into any
word processor and change personal details to suit. SPIRITED V1.3 - A GEM
based text editor which runs as an ACC. It was designed for use with
SpiritWare's Bible concordance program but is ideally suited for general
purpose use. DOC2ASC - Converts files from any word processor into pure
ASCII by stripping out all characters below ASCII 32 and above ASCII 126. It
can process all files in a given directory which match your chosen
extension, in one batch. KXP SET V5.0 by Bill Aycock - Allows you to access
almost all the features of the KX-P1124 easily from software. What's more,
this version of the program allows you to subsitute your own control codes
so it could be adapted to work with almost any printer. KXP SET can be run
as a PRG or ACC. MACTEXT by Gero Zahn - On the Apple Mac, the ASCII standard
is not the same as on the ST. The result is that although characters below
ASCII 127 are the same on all platforms, those above 127 are located in
different places in a Mac file. In addition, the end of line CR+LF
convention is implemented differently. This program swaps over ASCII files
between the ST and the Mac by altering the character codes to suit and
changing the end of line markers. It is essential if you transfer ASCII
files between the ST and Mac and use characters above ASCII 126. PAGES V1.0
by Bill Aycock - Lets assume that you are printing out a document in booklet
form. Type in the total number of pages and 'Pages' will tell you which page
should go where i.e. sheet number, front left, back right etc, so that your
booklet comes out in the right order. THE ULTIMATE CONVERTER (TUC) V1.02 by
Kevin Millican - Allows you to convert word processor files from any format
to any format. At least that's the theory! It works by converting the often
non-printable ASCII character used to represent eg bold or italic on one
word processor to those used on another word processor. Example script files
allow you to convert executable programs to and from ASCII (useful for
performing translations) and from First Word to RTF, Protext v4.3 to
Wordstar, Protext v4.3 to RTF, ASCII to RTF, Write On to RTF, Word Perfect
v5.0 to RTF, Word Perfect v5.1 to RTF and Wordstar to RTF. Obviously you
could alter the scripts to allow any of these to convert to any other or
even introduce new conversions if you know the codes used by the appropriate
word processor(s). The docs are easily followed and explain the command
language used in the scripts. UNFORMAT V3.1 by Bill Aycock - This removes
trailing spaces at the end of lines, removes any left margin from text files
and deletes extra carriage returns and line feeds present in some files
captured on-line. All three options can of course be switched on or off to
suit. Runs as a PRG or ACC. WORDWRITER AIDS - A collection of templates by
Tony Kaye for use within Wordwriter ST. They allow you to set up default
sizes for 9"x7", A4, A5, Foolscap and Quatro paper sizes. There are also
templates which allow you to work out how many lines you can print per page
and how many characters you can fit across the page when using settings of
10, 12 or 15 characters per inch. There's also a helpful doc which explains
how to use them. WP2RTF - Converts Wordplus files to RTF format. WP DEMO -
Converts 1st Word and Wordplus files to Word Perfect v5 files and Word
Perfect v5 & v6 files to Wordplus. The demo only converts short files. Full
version available from the author.
WRD.5299 UK ADVANCED CRYPTICS DICTIONARY V1.3 by Ross Beresford - A massive
collection of 190,000 words. It was compiled from lists totalling 500,000
words by eliminating entries which were not allowable in UK cryptic puzzles.
All included words are listed in The Chambers Dictionary, Collins English
Dictionary and The Concise Oxford Dictionary. Although compiled with
crossword addicts in mind, this list could also be used as an extensive
spell checker for most word processors.
WRD.5589 & WRD.5590 7-UP V2.3 by Michael Thanitz - The English version
of this popular German Shareware text editor. Calling 7-UP a text editor is
a little misleading as it is really more of a word processor, featuring word
wrap, (Speedo)GDOS support, a text preview option and so forth. It's very
fast, especially considering that it is fully GEMmed. Up to 7 texts may be
worked on simultaneously from 7-UP's built-in Desktop. Printout is supported
to Epson ESC P2 or IBM Proprinter models or to any installed printer using
GDOS. The information dialog is very useful giving a wealth of info on your
currently selected document (it can even do a word count on a block). 7-UP
is multi-tasking friendly, supports the GEM Clipboard, allows UNDO for most
operations, supports keyboard shortcuts (as well as the use of drop down
menus) and is very customisable. The search facility is probably the most
powerful around, allowing you to search the whole document, individual
pages, individual blocks, search for markers in the text, search for block
start/end etc. All in all, a very polished piece of software. Well
documented in ST-Guide, TEX and ASCII formats. Unfortunately the docs are
still in German but we've done a RUF translation.
WRD.5677 THE DESKTOP COMPANION by Dave Ashbury - A handy ACC (can also be
run as a PRG) which was designed to enhance the use of First Word/Wordplus.
It lets you copy, rename, delete or touch files, create a folder, format a
disk, set/display a Desktop clock, grab a snapshot of the screen or convert
files into pure ASCII (i.e. remove those control characters which trip up
First Word/Wordplus). It can even create ASCII listings of the files in any
directory. DJ_WWRTR - A printer driver which lets you use an HP Deskjet with
Timeworks Word Writer. ESSAY V2.00 by Patrick Ruiz - A very fast text
editor. It is not GEM based but is both mouse and keyboard controlled. It
supports powerful block and search functions, up to 10 place markers, up to
10 keyboard macros, allows you to define the text and background colour and
load GDOS fonts. Not as fully featured as some but FASTER than everything
else I've seen! FF2CRLF by Florian Diete - Converts an ASCII file which uses
the FF code for page breaks, to use the CRLF method instead, enabling it to
be printed out using a fixed number of lines per page. FWPTEX by Tom Hageman
- A set of programs which convert 1st Word/Wordplus files to LaTeX or any
other format (you define the conversion rules) or convert ASCII files to WP
format. There's also an alternative to 1st Word's printer installer. The
conversion is actually done by the printer driver which outputs the
converted file to disk rather than printer. A knowledge of C is required in
order to set up the PRINTER.CFG files. LIB_RTF V3.00 by Vincent Godefroy -
Converts Le Redacteur text files into RTF format. You can even specify which
fonts you wish to use in your converted RTF files. Designed for converting
Redacteur files for use with Papyrus, but equally well suited to any program
which reads RTF files. TWP v3.0 - Converts Thats Write or Wordplus v4 files
to Word Perfect 5 format or Word Perfect 5 & 6 files to Thats Write format.
WP2 v3.9 by Robert Best - Converts 1st Word, Wordplus 2 & 3 files to
WordPerfect 5 format. It also converts WordPerfect 5 & 6 files to Wordplus 2
format. WPG V0.5 by Robert Best - Allows you to load and view graphics in
Word Perfect (v5 & v6) WPG format. They can also be resaved in IMG format.
PENPAL V1.2 by Anthony Watson - A text editor which has been designed with
ease of use in mind and is multi-tasking friendly, supports the GEM
Clipboard and much more besides. TRANSLATOR by Digital Solutions - Converts
ASCII text into PostScript format for printing on PostScript devices.
THESAUR by Paul Chapelhow - A cut down version of a thesaurus program. Type
in a word and (if it is in the database) five synonyms will be displayed.
The registered version can also be run as an ACC and lets you add to its
database.
WRD.5853 QED V4.10 by Christian Felsch - A very powerful text editor from
Germany. It has its own Desktop and looks reminiscent of Tempus. QED is
fast, GEM based and supports the calling of external programs allowing you
to make, link, compile and run your own source code via any SE compatible
shell. It supports the use of any loaded font (rather than the System font)
if (Speedo)GDOS or NVDI (v3 or later) is installed and prints using 1st
Wordplus printer drivers so there should be no problem finding a driver to
suit. Like Everest, it supports the use of kurzels (shortcuts for commonly
used words and phrases), keyboard shortcuts and the GEM Clipboard. A macro
recorder is built in. Supports the following protocols, VA_START, AP_TERM,
AC_HELP, SH_WDRAW, SC_CHANGED, DRAG & DROP, OLGA and SE and supports the use
of long filenames (on systems offering this feature). Program in English and
German but docs (in ST-Guide format) only partially translated.
WRD.6065 JOVE V4.9 - The Atari version of this popular Unix text editor.
JOVE is a modified version of EMACS but has gained popularity in its own
right. If you're used to GEM based text editors like Everest, forget this
one! It's entirely text based and blatantly unfriendly to the newcomer.
Having said that, if you've used JOVE or EMACS on another machine, you'll
take to this like a duck to water. It's a 100% faithful implementation of
JOVE. Although purely text based, it supports the editing of multiple
documents, cutting and pasting between documents, search and replace and
everything else you'd expect. Its strength comes in the form of its in-built
command language and the ability to run predefined macros. JOVE is supplied
along with the Gulaam command shell and includes (ZIPped) C source code.
WRD.6285 CALLIGRAP.HER - A Deskjet 500 series printer driver for use with
Calligrapher. DESKJET - A number of useful files for Hewlett Packard printer
owners. The only executables are for Atari and PC versions of a utility
which converts an uncompressed PCL file (HP file printed to disk) and
compresses it using HP's compression. The result is files which take up half
the disk space and print much faster. Other HP files on this disk include
the C source code to Ghostscript drivers for the Deskjet models 520, 540,
560C, 500 and 550 as well as the Paintjet models XL and XL3000. Other
documents explain the ESC codes used in the 500 and 600 series printers,
commands specific to colour printing on the 550C and explains the process
known as "shingling" on the 600 series. These HP files are all of most use
either to programmers or those of you who are trying to customise your own
printer drivers. IBM2AT41 -Converts files from v4.2 of the PC word processor
Word Perfect into the format used by v4.1 of the Atari version of this
program and vice versa. If your PC version of Word Perfect is newer than
v4.2, you must output the files in v4.2 format. TEXTO V1.2 by Stephane Perez
- Text file converter. Converts between Atari ASCII, Pro 2 (a format used by
Minitel), NTF (as used by Toxic disk mag), Windows ASCII and HTML. It even
handles the conversion of characters above ASCII 128 into their HTML
equivalents. DYSAM by Lionel Ruiz - Converts text files to and from Atari
ASCII, PC ASCII, HTML, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Write. ST/STe only,
crashes on Falcons and TTs. Also includes Eassay v2.00 (a basic text editor)
by the same author. HTML2TXT V1.0 by Thomas Salin - Converts any HTML file
(as found on the Web) into pure ASCII by removing all the custom tags. This
program goes further than most in that it reformats the layout of the text
to match that of the HTML document. Admittedly it does not handle tables
correctly but the ASCII text does give a close match to the original
document layout-wise in all other respects.
